The image comes from The Gospel of Mark 2: 1-12. I painted this while deployed to Iraq in 2006 and at a time when my faith was in shambles but still had a few friends that were strong in theirs. The key to this story is the man was healed not because of his faith, but because of the faith of his friends.
this is very true in today's times, and have seen this miracle in person after praying for divine healing. Godly, very moving piece, be beutiful, well said.
Best of luck in your teaching endeavors Kelly! Thanks for taking the time to check out this illustration. I think your take on the story is on target ... though I was focusing more the determination of the friends to help their brother ... which must say allot about their faith.

Glad you like this one Dale. There's allot going on in this story and I pick-up something new everytime I read it or hear it.
I'm teaching this story to my sunday school class this month and I was struck that Christ knew that what this man needed most was forgiveness of sin.
