Treasure Island

"Treasure Island is completed! The entire set of seventeen canvases without one break in my enthusiasm and spirit. Better in every quality than anything I ever did."

N. C. Wyeth in a letter to his mother, July 26, 1911...

In my mind the N.C. Wyeth illustrated versions of the Treasure Island and Robin Hood stories are the best versions done... but I cannot find them in print! Did you have or come across a version of the book, or just the prints?

I agree with you brother! There is no better illustrator, past, present or future, for these classic stories. And yes, I do have many of these books and prints on my shelves and walls. They are some of my greatest treasures (pardon the pun).

We are planning to visit his gallery in Brandywine, PA very soon. I'll be sure to pick something up for you!

I had to opportunity visit the Wyeth Gallery in Brandywine, PA today and it was awesome. There was one room that had every single painting from "Treasure Island" as well as a few from "Kidnapped" and "The Black Arrow".

While seeing so many N.C. Wyeth paintings was a dream come true, I also enjoyed seeing the work of his teacher Howard Pyle.
